Unit 656. I'm not sure if I can trust online reviews.

When it comes to online reviews, I'm not so sure if they're truthful or not.

English On The Go

When it comes to online reviews, I'm really not sure what to believe,

like if it's ever a truthful review or if it's not a truthful review.

-------------------------

And I'm only saying that because once, I went to a restaurant with my friend to eat,

and once we were finished eating the meal, the waitress came over.

And she was so nice the whole time.

-------------------------

She was really ... like, she took such good care of us.

And she came over after we finished. She was clearing up our plates.

And she was like, “Would you guys like to leave a review on our website and then you get a free ice cream?”

-------------------------

And we were like, “Of course, we want free ice cream.”

So then we wrote up this review about “Oh, the service was so great. Had such a good time. Love the food, love the atmosphere” and all that.

-------------------------

And then I thought, “Wow, she was only being nice to us, or so nice to us, so that we'd leave a nice review.”

But at the same time I didn't really mind, because we got free ice cream.

But now when it comes to online reviews, I'm just never sure if it's true or not.

* be only saying that because ~  :

I was only saying that because it was funny.

I was only saying that = I only said that

She's only saying that because she likes you.

* but at the same time  :

But at the same time, I was very excited.

But at the same time, he was a little bit worried.

I don’t know whom to trust.

In The Social World

Kevin (남)

I can't tell if online reviews are accurate or just left by annoying, nitpicky people looking to make a stink.

 I can't tell

When it comes to reviews, I always look at them from lowest to highest. The low reviews are likely to be more truthful about the product.

Speaking Summary

When it comes to online reviews, I'm not so sure if they're truthful or not.

When it comes to = as for, with

English On The Go

When it comes to online reviews, I'm really not sure what to believe,

 I'm not sure = I don't know

like if it's ever a truthful review or if it's not a truthful review.

 like 예를 들어서

ever 여기서는 정직한 후기가 있기는 있는지 .. are there any ~

truthful 진실된, 정직한

-------------------------

And I'm only saying that because once, I went to a restaurant with my friend to eat,

and once we were finished eating the meal, the waitress came over.

 Once I said that,

Once I'm done with my homework, I'll go hang out with my friend

And she was so nice the whole time.

the whole time 정해진 기간 내내   .. she was actually sleeping the whole time. ( during that time )

all the time 언제나, 항상, 자주

-------------------------

She was really ... like, she took such good care of us.

such a nice weather (x),  such nice weather (o)

 such a good (x), such good (o)

And she came over after we finished. She was clearing up our plates.

And she was like, “Would you guys like to leave a review on our website and then you get a free ice cream?”

she was like 생각했다, 말했다 둘 중 하나 ..

you 뒤 쪽의 you는 사실 문법적으로 필요가 없음 and then get a free ~

-------------------------

And we were like, “Of course, we want free ice cream.”

So then we wrote up this review about “Oh, the service was so great. Had such a good time. Love the food, love the atmosphere” and all that.

 and all that  등등

atmosphere 분위기

-------------------------

And then I thought, “Wow, she was only being nice to us, or so nice to us, so that we'd leave a nice review.”

 we'd = we would

only being nice to us  ;

so nice to us  ;

But at the same time I didn't really mind, because we got free ice cream.

But now when it comes to online reviews, I'm just never sure if it's true or not.
