Unit 710. I plan in advance.

When it comes to making plans, I like to plan in advance because it helps me stay organized.

English On The Go

When it comes to planning, I think there are two types of people.

One is more spontaneous, will probably text their friends an hour before wanting to meet up,

asking, “Hey, do you want to grab lunch?”

And the other is probably a little bit more organized and likes to plan in advance.

I think I definitely fall into the latter category. I like to make plans in advance.

I like to know what my week looks like at the start of a week.

And I think this is because I am juggling quite a few tasks in my life at the moment,  

and I need to ensure that I am very structured and organized.

And in the midst of all of that, I want to ensure I have time to meet my friends.

And the only way I can guarantee that is by making plans in advance,

because although I try to leave some space to be spontaneous as well,

I fear that if I leave it all to be too spontaneous, then I'll never end up meeting my friends.

And so if it means making plans two weeks in advance to ensure that I don't book anything else in for that same day,

then that's what I'm going to do.

한 부류는 더 즉흥적인 사람들로, 아마도 한 시간 남겨 놓고는 친구들에게 만나자고 문자를 보낼 거예요.

asking, “Hey, do you want to grab lunch?”

이렇게 묻는 거죠. “점심 같이 먹을래?”

  grab lunch  ;  have lunch 를 쓸 수 있는데 grab을 쓰면 간단한 식사의 느낌이 있다.

And the other is probably a little bit more organized and likes to plan in advance.

그리고 다른 한 부류는 아마 더 계획성 있고, 미리 계획을 짜는 걸 좋아할 거예요.

  the other  ;   두 개일 때   one,  the other  ..      세 개일 때  one, another, the other   ..  여러 개일 때  one, another, another, another, ...... the other.   마지막 남은 것이 여러개 라면 the others

저는 분명히 후자에 속하는 것 같아요. 저는 계획을 미리 세우는 걸 좋아해요.

  fall into   ;    ~에 떨어진다 .. 즉 속하다    …에 빠지다; …에 서다; …에 종사하다.

 

latter 후자의     사다리란 뜻의 'ladder'과 발음이 똑같다.

저는 일주일이 시작될 때 그 한 주가 어떻게 흘러갈지를 아는 걸 좋아해요.

  what my week looks like  ;   일주일이 어떻게 생겼는지 .. 즉 어떤 일정들이 잡혀있는지

그리고 이건 제가 현재 제 인생에서 꽤 여러 가지 일들을 동시에 하고 있기 때문인 것 같아요.

그리고 반드시 체계를 세우고 계획성을 갖춰야 할 필요가 있기 때문일 거예요.

  ensure  =  make sure

ensure 반드시 ~하게 하다

 

And in the midst of all of that, I want to ensure I have time to meet my friends.

그리고 그 모든 것이 진행되는 가운데, 저는 친구들을 만날 시간도 반드시 갖고 싶어요.

  book anything else in  ;  in 은 생략해도 됨,  book anything else 는 일정을 잡는 느낌이고, book anything else in 는 일정안에 끼워 넣는 느낌.
