Unit 788. I have some regrets, but it was a good year.

 

While I do have a few regrets of things I didn't accomplish this year, overall it was a good year.

It's quite cold outside.

It's the end of the year, and I think I had a pretty good year.

There are some things I regret. For example, see that bike?

Yeah, I didn't go on as many bike rides as I wanted to.

All these Korean books down here … I didn't study as much Korean as I wanted to.

Okay, oh well. Next time.

But I did accomplish a lot.

I made some new friends and I got a lot of work done, but also I did a lot of traveling.

So there are a lot of things that I didn't accomplish this year,

and of course I have those regrets.

But overall, I think this ended up being a pretty good year for me.

Well, it was a surprising, emotional, fun, funny, and good year. I regret some of the things I did this year, but I learned a lot of stuff.

 놀라움이 많았던, 여러가지 감정을 느끼는, 재밌었고, 웃겼고, 그리고 좋은 한해였다. 올해했던 일들 중에서 어떤것은 후회를 하지만 많은 것을 배웠다.

There are some things I regret. For example, see that bike?

후회되는 것들도 있어요. 예를 들어, 저 자전거 보이시나요?

Unit 789. I had a very balanced year.

 

The year of 2019 has been a very balanced year for me, with a few major downs and many, many ups to make it all worth it.

This year was a very special year for me, but I say that about every year.

If I had to describe in one word, I would choose the word “balance.”

For example, the same month when I was supposed to have my spinal surgery,

I was also invited to be a guest on a Korean TV show for four consecutive episodes. Balance.

And even though I was in a very painful recovery from the surgery,

I still got to run around, or try to run around, London, filming videos for that TV show and doing what I love.

Balance. I also got to visit beautiful places that I've never been to before,

like Los Angeles in America or the island of Tenerife on the western coast of Africa.

And most importantly, I've been surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones this entire year,

and I've been very greatly supported, which is what made it so wonderful.

Unit 790. My wife and I bought a house this year.

 

It has been an outstanding year for my wife and I.

I got to say, it has been an excellent year for me.

I feel like I have finally settled into adulthood officially.

I have been living within my means ever since I graduated high school.

And I've taken this motto of living within my means,

try not to purchase things extravagantly or buy too many things on the credit card, into my 20s.

I took that motto from my 20s into my 30s.

And I never fully became an adult buying brand-new items,

which is a good thing if you do not have an exorbitant salary.

But this year was a little bit different.

I finally splurged with my wife.

She and I purchased this home in Florida, which is way more expensive than anything I've ever purchased before.

So it's been a good year.

Christmas season is the perfect season to look at the year in retrospective.

This year kicked off with some surprises in my studies,

but thankfully I handled them well, and now I feel like I could become a lawyer.

Midyear we had also a very positive emotional event in our family

because my aunt gave birth to nonidentical twins,

who coincidentally were born on my grandmother's birthday, who already has passed away.

So you can imagine that it meant the world to me

when I found out that they named the girl after my grandmother, Mary.

Speaking of emotional, I recently also attended my 10-year music academy reunion.

Our vocal coaches organized a cozy party with a buffet and a tent outside of the record studio,

which had the perfect ambience to sit and sing together and jam just as if sitting at a bonfire.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, it actually was a very emotional throwback to my teenage years,

but I'm very thankful because it made me reflect on myself

and also acknowledge how much I've changed and grown in a positive way.

It's been a pretty overwhelmingly emotional year with the amount of support we've gotten on various projects lately!

It's really been an emotional year, both positive and negative. But two of my biggest dreams came true this year and I couldn't be happier about it.

Unit 792. This year contained new beginnings.

 

For me, 2019 has been a year of excitement, of new beginnings, and of uncertainty.

English On The Go

2019 has been a year of excitement because I finished my university education,

which has been a huge milestone in my life, which I am extremely proud of for having accomplished.

It has been a year of new beginnings because I have now officially unlocked a new chapter to my life,

where I am no longer a student but simply an adult.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

And lastly, it has also been a year of uncertainty because

as I transitioned from being a student to an adult, it has come with a lot of uncertainty about what comes next.

And I think a lot of young adults might struggle with this,

because when you're 10 years old, you know for certain that in five years' time, you will probably still be at school.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

However, now it's very difficult to say what will come in five years' time.

And this used to make me feel really uncomfortable.

However, I think 2019 has truly taught me to embrace the uncertainty as a normal part of life,

a normal part of going from being a student to seeking a career.

And I now view it as something that is exciting because literally anything can happen.

The world is your oyster, and I'm determined to make the most out of it.

2019 has been a year of excitement because I finished my university education,

2019년은 신나는 한 해였는데, 왜냐하면 제가 대학을 졸업했기 때문이에요.

 

which has been a huge milestone in my life, which I am extremely proud of for having accomplished.

제 인생에서 큰 의미가 있는 일이었고, 이걸 성취했다는 게 정말 자랑스러워요.

It has been a year of new beginnings because I have now officially unlocked a new chapter to my life,

where I am no longer a student but simply an adult.

이제 학생이 아니고 그냥 어른이라는 새로운 장이에요.

as I transitioned from being a student to an adult, it has come with a lot of uncertainty about what comes next.

학생인 상태에서 어른이 되는 과정에서, 그다음에 어떤 일이 일어날지 불확실성이 많이 느껴졌어요.

And I think a lot of young adults might struggle with this,

그리고 많은 젊은 성인들이 이것 때문에 힘들어할 수도 있을 것 같아요.

 

because when you're 10 years old, you know for certain that in five years' time, you will probably still be at school.

왜냐하면 열 살 때는 5년 후에도 아마도 여전히 학생일 거라는 걸 확실히 알기 때문이죠.

However, now it's very difficult to say what will come in five years' time.

그런데 이제는 5년 뒤에 어떤 일이 생길지 말하기가 정말 어려워요.

And this used to make me feel really uncomfortable.

그리고 이게 전에는 저를 정말 불안하게 만들었거든요.

 

However, I think 2019 has truly taught me to embrace the uncertainty as a normal part of life,

그런데 2019년이 정말로 저에게 불확실성을 삶의 자연스러운 일부분으로 받아들이는 법을 가르쳐 준 것 같아요.

a normal part of going from being a student to seeking a career.

And I now view it as something that is exciting because literally anything can happen.
