Unit 649. My family is good at saving money.

Saving money is something my parents taught me to do, and I still do it to this day.

Saving money is something that my family has always taught me to do.

When my dad was a kid, he had seven other brothers and sisters,

and they were not wealthy. They were not rich.

So what happened is my grandmother would have all the kids take ketchup packets from fast-food places

and refill the ketchup bottle as a way to save money.

You do what you have to do.

Even today, I came home to visit,

and of course I'm staying at my parents' house because I'm going to save money as well.

It's not as intense as it used to be.

We're not as poor as my dad's family was.

But still, it feels good to save money.

Saving money is something that my family has always taught me to do.

돈을 아끼는 건 우리 가족이 항상 저에게 가르쳐 준 거예요.

 

When my dad was a kid, he had seven other brothers and sisters,

저희 아버지가 어렸을 때, 형제자매가 7명 있었어요.

 seven other brothers and sisters = 7 siblings  ( 항상 자신을 뺀 나머지 인원 수), 3남매입니다 할 때 결국 자신을 포함 4남매 가 됨.

 

and they were not wealthy. They were not rich.

그리고 아버지 가족은 부유하지 않았어요. 부자가 아니었어요.
